1. Giới thiệu

Daviteq Pt100 transmitter is a device to connect to external Pt100 sensor to measure temperature range for kilns, gas turbine exhaust, diesel engines, other industrial processes and fog machines.... in various applications, including industrial processes, household appliances, safety devices, medical equipment, and research settings. Pt100 sensor include different types ( 2-wire, 3-wire, 4-wire) with various measurement range and accuracy.

The Pt100 transmitter can be integrated into the wireless node from Daviteq, such as Sub-GHz WS433, LoRaWAN WSLRW, and Sigfox WSSFC, to build the complete wireless Pt100 transmitter.

2. Nguyên tắc hoạt động

The PT100 sensor, also known as a platinum resistance thermometer, operates based on the principle that the electrical resistance of platinum changes predictably with temperature. The core principle is the relationship between temperature and electrical resistance. As the temperature increases, the resistance of the platinum wire in the sensor also increases in a linear and predictable manner. Platinum is chosen for its stability, high melting point, and predictable resistance-temperature behavior. At 0°C, a PT100 sensor has a resistance of exactly 100 ohms. The Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR) of platinum is about 0.385 ohms per degree Celsius. This means that for every degree Celsius increase in temperature, the resistance increases by approximately 0.385 ohms.

3. Hiệu chuẩn

To calibrate a complete Pt100 temperature device (Daviteq Pt100 node and Pt100 sensor), follow these steps:

1.      Isolate the sensor (Pt100) from the process.

2.      Immerse the sensor fully into a dry-well or bath that can cover the required temperature range.

3.      Change CONSTANT_A = 1 and CONSTANT_B =0 on Daviteq Pt100 node memory by offline tool or downlink

4.      Adjust the temperature of the bath or dry-well to each of the test points. At each test point, record the readings of the standard temperature and Pt100 device's temperature. Record 2 test points (calibrated minimum temperature point and calibrated maximum temperature point)

5.      Calculate CONSTANT_A and CONSTANT_B based on the standard temperature and Pt100 device's temperature at minimum temperature point and maximum temperature point.

Standard Temperature = CONSTANT_A * Pt100 device's temperature + CONSTANT_B

6.      Change calculated CONSTANT_A and CONSTANT_B on Daviteq Pt100 node memory by offline tool or downlink

5. Installation Notes

Some key points to consider when installing a PT100 transmitter:

1. Wiring Configuration:

- Two-Wire Configuration: Simplest but less accurate due to the lack of compensation for lead wire resistance.

- Three-Wire Configuration: Most common, compensates for lead wire resistance, improving accuracy.

- Four-Wire Configuration: Provides the highest accuracy by completely eliminating the effect of lead wire resistance¹(https://eleccircs.com/pt100-connection-diagram).

2. Connection Steps:

- Connect the PT100 Sensor: Ensure the sensor is properly connected to the transmitter.

- Power Supply: Verify that the transmitter is connected to the appropriate power supply as specified in the manual.

- Configuration: Use the manufacturer's software or tools or online downlink to configure the transmitter settings. This may involve setting the range, calibration, and other parameters

3. Installation Environment:

- Temperature: Ensure the installation environment is within the operating temperature range of the transmitter.

- Protection: If the transmitter is installed in a harsh environment, consider using protective enclosures to shield it from dust, moisture, and other contaminants.

4. Calibration:

- Initial Calibration: Perform an initial calibration after installation to ensure accurate readings.

- Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular maintenance and recalibration to maintain accuracy over time.

6. Troubleshooting

1. The measured value is not within the expected value

  • The thermocouple sensor is drifted over time: Re-calibrate the sensor.

  • The thermocouple sensor was spoiled due to some reasons: Replace the new sensor

  • The DIP switch configurations for Pt100 type or wirings are wrong/changed: Check with manufacturer manual about DIP switch configurations or wirings

  • Configuration Pt100 type in device memory is wrong/changed: Check and adjust the configuration of correct Pt100 type

2. HW_Error = 1

  • The thermocouple node got a problem: Please consult the manufacturer for a warranty or replacement.

7. Maintenance

1. Regular Calibration:

   - Initial Calibration: Perform an initial calibration after installation.

   - Periodic Calibration: Schedule regular calibration intervals based on the manufacturer's recommendations and the operational environment.

2. Visual Inspection:

   - Check Connections: Ensure all electrical connections are secure and free from corrosion.

   - Inspect Wiring: Look for any signs of wear or damage to the wiring.

3. Functional Testing:

   - Simulate Sensor Inputs: Use a decade resistance box for RTDs to simulate sensor inputs and verify transmitter output.

   - Check Output: Compare the transmitter output with the expected values to ensure accuracy.

4. Environmental Considerations:

   - Protective Enclosures: Ensure the transmitter is housed in a suitable enclosure to protect it from dust, moisture, and other environmental factors.

   - Temperature Range: Verify that the transmitter is operating within its specified temperature range.

5. Documentation:

   - Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including calibration results and any adjustments made.

   - Update Labels: After maintenance, update calibration stickers and labels on the transmitter.

6. Safety Precautions:

   - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate PPE during maintenance.

   - Work Permits: Obtain necessary work permits and approvals before starting maintenance.

8. Cấu hình mặc định

Pt100 transmitter has the default configuration. The user can change the configuration on the wireless transmitter so that the complete sensor (transducer + wireless) delivers the proper output value.
