1. Giới thiệu

WSLRW-ATH is the LoRaWAN Integrated Ambient Humidity & Temperature Sensor, it utilises digital capacitance humidity sensor to deliver high accuracy and stable measurement. With Ultra-low power design and smart firmware allow the sensor can last up to 10 years with 2 x AA battery (depends on configuration). The sensor will transmit data in kilo-meters distance to LoRaWAN gateway, any brand on the market. There are a lot of applications as environment monitoring for office, warehouse, data center, hospital, agriculture...

2. Nguyên tắc hoạt động

Capacitive humidity sensors operate on the principle of capacitance, which is the ability of a system to store an electrical charge. The sensor consists of two conductive plates, separated by a hygroscopic dielectric material. The dielectric material, typically a polymer or ceramic, exhibits a property known as relative permittivity (or dielectric constant), which varies with humidity levels. When the humidity increases, the water molecules are absorbed by the dielectric material, leading to an increase in its permittivity. This, in turn, results in a change in the capacitance between the plates, which can be measured and converted into a humidity reading.

3. Hiệu chuẩn

Humidity sensors need to be calibrated regularly to ensure they operate within their specifications. There are several ways to calibrate a humidity sensor, including:

Calibrated relative humidity generator: Humidity sensor calibration is usually done by comparing the sensor’s readings to a calibrated relative humidity generator. The sensor is exposed to known humidity levels, and any discrepancies in its readings are corrected until precise humidity measurements are obtained.

Humidity calibrator: To most accurately calibrate a humidity sensor, you need to generate and measure humidity at a variety of temperatures and humidity levels. To do this efficiently, you would use a humidity generator/ calibrator. These measurements are compared with the measurements of the device under test.

5. Installation Notes

Consider these factors when installing the humidity sensor:

  • Contamination: Although capacitive sensors are generally resistant to contamination, exposure to certain chemicals or aggressive environments may affect the dielectric material and alter the sensor’s performance.

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI): Capacitive sensors can be susceptible to EMI, which may cause inaccurate readings. Proper shielding and grounding techniques can help minimize the impact of EMI on sensor performance.

  • Dust level: the sensor filter might be stuck and the measurement will be inaccurate if the dust level is high for long time.

6. Troubleshooting

1. The measured value is not within the expected value

  • The sensor is drifted over time: Re-calibrate the sensor.

  • The sensor was spoiled due to some reasons. Replace the new sensor

2. HW_Error = 1

  • Loosed connection of sensor module and wireless transmitter: Check the internal wiring.

  • The sensor module got a problem: Please consult the manufacturer for a warranty or replacement.

7. Maintenance

  • Regular maintenance and cleaning filter to remove dust and chemical element

  • Humidity sensor should be calibrated every year
